Re: This astro photographer shares interesting sensor info

Hi Morgan This is not to make you look bad my friend. You only amplified the image signal, adjusting the ISO is not ETTR. The easiest TEST is to use the same settings on the EM1 II and the G9 and to make any one of them look terrible in terms of noise. How is that possible you would say? Simply by r...

Re: This astro photographer shares interesting sensor info

Hi Rob Thank you for your support :-) The shutter speed and Aperture determine how much light is reaching the sensor. The ISO only amplifies the image signal coming from the sensor. We want to get as much as possible light onto the sensor because that increases sensor saturation and SNR. That means ...

This astro photographer shares interesting sensor info

On my journey searching for new information I came across this astrophotographer. He has some interesting M43 videos... Link:- https://youtu.be/4lyhL_q0Jv0 He did say something that I do not agree with. You can not use the ISO to expose to the right (ETTR). Why? Question:- For example, do you think ...

Re: Explaining the OM-1 sensor...

Good to see your reply, I trust you are doing well Sir? Reading your post why not simply use a Go Pro or your mobile phone? That said, the OM-1 like the XT4 should give better results than the EM1 III... (the key is to get enought light onto the sensor) Think about it, photographers have two choices...

Re: How to find you dream camera...

I worked on the above article, stopped, and completed it in a new format. Here is the link: https://myolympusomd.blogspot.com/2022/05/just-how-bad-is-size-and-capture-theory.html I added a section on how to test/compare cameras - I kept it basic. I can imagine someone with the right know-how and int...

How to find you dream camera...

Interesting that reviewers couldn't verify the +2EV noise reduction or +1EV DR. Instead they said we shouldn't trust OMDS. Where does this leave us? I am working on a new article on how to evaluate digital cameras... Here are a few points on how to evaluate Image Sensors:- -Pixels capture Photons an...

Re: Explaining the OM-1 sensor...

Wow Lysippus, it will take me a while to decipher your suggestions. But thank you for your feedback. My video is receiving good feedback and it seems to benefit everyone. I was hoping that would happen... What do you think of the new Cross Quad Pixel AF on the OM-1 BSI sensor and how will it benefit...

Explaining the OM-1 sensor...

Hi guys

I did a new kind of article by adding a video this time. I noticed there are a lot of questions and incorrect info about the new OM-1 sensor. I received great mail feedback on the video. I trust this article will be of value to you.

Best

Re: Why is it safe to use ISO Low, L100 or L64?

Happy new year guys... I did a number of corrections and added more information to the article... I also added an interesting test to see if there are differences in the noise floor between the EM1 II and III. You can find it here:- https://myolympusomd.blogspot.com/2021/12/lets-talk-about-iso-low-l...

Re: Why is it safe to use ISO Low, L100 or L64?

Folks my article (Part 2) is ready... I posted it today on my blog. The answer is really simple, the focus should be amplification and not dynamic range. The first benefits photographers and the second promoters and manufacturers. There is much more really interesting info in this article, I hope yo...
